Sort of family history
My great grandad was a farmer during WW1 and my grandad was also reserved occupation in WW2 although he was a member of the local HG and again when the HG was reformed in the 50s.
Heard a touching tale today from one if our residents, a friend if theirs was a Burma vet who spent a long time in captivity in Japanese hands, on de-mob he went on the reserve list but was recalled when Korea kicked off, he duly went there as ordered and was then captured again, god knows what went through his mind during his second spell as a POW.
